MIDWEEK RIDE REPORT WEDNESDAY 3rd MAY 2017
Meeting point was the Caltex servo next to Tram Stop Garden Supplies in Greensborough. When I arrived there were already three others there. It looked like a Triumph rally at this point but as others arrived there was a good mix of Brit/Asian, Euro & Jap bikes out for a great ride on what was shaping up to be a lovely sunny day.
There were a couple of late comers that delayed departure slightly. Poor Colin had a hell of a time getting there, his BMW requiring a jump start due to charging issues.
Reg was ride leader and did a great job of navigating his was around the Northern region. We made our way through Whittlesea then Wandong and onto Broadford for a cuppa. This is where Greg Costello caught up with us. He missed the departure at Greensborough and rode directly to Broadford.
After a brief stop we headed off again towards Strath Creek stopping at the Murchison Gap lookout for a photo opportunity. From Strath Creek we headed further north for a brief stop at Highlands and admired the mini Stonehenge, some of us took this opportunity to graciously water the plants. Big thanks to Paul Clayton for stopping to pick up my gearsack that flew off the back of my bike.
Last leg before lunch saw us cutting a fine pace through Ghin Ghin for our lunch stop at Yea.
After lunch we headed out through Junction Hill and down the great Break-O’day Road then back onto the Melba Hwy.
Spirited riding all the way to Yarra Glen where we stopped to say our good-byes. Sam Panettieri
