Midweek ride Weds 7 December

Words alone cannot justify what Ed and nature presented for today’s ride, but the other 14 riders that were there would know what I016 am talking about. Our starting point was at Chirnside Park, 8.30 for a 9am start, and at 8.55 a phone call to Brendan Fitzgerald (a new member) confirmed that Greg Costello was a definite starter. Minutes later, Greg arrived on his 1969 Velocette Sportsman in absolute mint condition and a beautiful reminder of the past.

Geelong first Sunday of the month ride 4 Dec 2016

The last ride for 2016 had a good turn up of 14 riders, 1 pillion & 2 cars. (Burger with a doctor’s certificate.) Ron Study was spontaneously elected by Andy Symons to lead ride with Stan Rogers TEC. 30 degrees expected with no wind was a great start for the ride, we headed out Waurn Pond to the old Colac Hwy (now a dead end road.) Cockranes Road across to Ceres, out Barrabool Hills area, with a few back roads we crossed Hamilton Hwy, Ballarat Road, across the back of Lovely Banks and then towards Maud. We rode through Bannockburn and half way to Teesdale we took some more back road heading back towards Geelong via Pollockford Road, Ceres and then to Steve and Helen Miller’s home arriving at about 11 am. (Trip distance of approximately 90 km / river and bridge crossings: lost count.)

Rosco's Brunch Run 20 November 2016

Checked over Janet’s bike Saturday arvo which hadn’t been ridden for a few months. Went through the normal checks, first a clean then looked at the oil, battery, tyres, lights and a chain lube, now all ready for Sunday. We left home at 7.30am, fuelled up in Healesville and then realised we’d both left our phones at home on charge. We headed back to Woori Yallock to pick up the phones, an item you feel necessary nowadays. We are on our way to Diamond Creek, at Yarra Glen there were Volkswagens driving into town from every direction all heading to the race course for their annual display and presentation day, also passed the Datsun car club at Christmas Hills going out for a drive.

Midweek ride Weds 2 November 2106

We met at the BP at Officer in cool dry weather and chatted over coffee in Maccas, and member Eddie Preston visiting from WALunch NoojeeGenStore joined us. Ed briefed us as we put our (winter) gear back on and prepared to depart to the east. We followed the railway line through Tynong, Garfield and Bunyip to get to the zone of more interesting west Gippsland country south of Darnum. Morning coffee break was at Trafalgar after which followed Ed into lovely motorcycling country around Narracan. Descending from the forested hills we enjoyed wide views of the Latrobe Valley including two distant power stations and some of the open cut coal mine.
