Midweek Ride Feb PDF Print E-mail

feb_midweekTwelve of us gathered in bright sunshine at the start in Gladstone Park and after the usual briefing by Ed we were off at 9:00am.
I will mention every area that we rode through in order and readers can, if they wish, get out their favourite Vic map and work out the actual route taken.
The areas we rode through were:  Greenvale, Oaklands Junction, Wildwood, Clarkfield, Bolinda, Kerrie, Hesket, Newham, Cobaw then to the Lancefield bakery for morning tea.  Brilliant riding so far and hardly a tin top in sight.
See the Gallery for photos of the ride.
At Cowbar I spotted a recently built but strangely designed home standing starkly in a paddock the likes of which I’ve never seen in Australia. It’s like a sort of mini French mansion. If you get to be up anywhere near the Cobaw area check it out, it isn’t hard to find. Morning tea was a pleasant affair where we got to chat a bit more with our guest rider Bryan Thomson and have a bit of a gander at his very nice CBX 1000.

OK off we go again to:  Baynton, Barfold, Metcalf, Kyneton, Tylden then to Woodend for lunch and for some, a fuel top up. At lunch we were scattered a bit between two almost adjoining bakeries with some of us trying out the bakery quite close to our usual corner one. The owner there sure knows how to make a top salad roll.
Another natter outside under the shade of a tree before setting off on our last leg up over Mount Macedon with a regroup at the top for a quick photo stop. Then down through  Macedon, New Gisborne, Gisborne Township,Toolern Vale,Diggers Rest, Bulla and finally  dispersed on the Freeway close to our start at Gladstone Park.
Yet again Ed picked out the very best motorcycling roads in and around the Macedon ranges area, most of which any motorcyclist would enjoy.
We were also quite lucky again with a sunny, cloudless sky. Thanks again Ed and also Bill as tail ender on his big red ST1300.
There were six lovely looking classics, all in top nick and six moderns. The run was close to 250 klms and my total door to door 311 klms.
