Presidents Report - July 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Nobody needs to tell you that winter has certainly been upon us, but after all it is that time of the year and our water storages certainly need the rain.

Another month has slipped by and once again a couple of very well attended and successful club events have been run, the midweek ride was well attended with a good mix of classic bikes. The other event was our club ride day to Richard and Dot Sommerville's property at Yea for a PSL ( pleasant Sunday lunch ) which you'll be able read about in the ride reports in the sprocket.
What was very impressive was the number of classic bikes on the ride considering the drizzly and cold type of day it was, but I know everyone that came along certainly enjoyed themselves.

You will also note in our club calendar that on Sunday, September 5th our usual Geelong- Ballarat ride is meeting up with Warrnambool at Colac for lunch. The three groups meeting up will be on an occasional basis, perhaps three or so times a year at different venues. Some years ago the three groups used to meet pretty well every month but due to some misunderstandings they seemed to fizzle out, one of the big misconceptions was that it was a classic club event and you must turn up on a classic bike, that is not the case.
Personally I don't care what you turn up on or in, just turn up and enjoy the day, that's what it's all about  Last year when I had my accident I turned up at one in a car and twice on Bruce Armfield's  T/Max 2009 scooter.

Now for a few club matters not to be forgotten, next meeting is our AGM so please see if you can make it

Also numbers are filling up very fast for our Beechworth Bonanza next April so don't leave it too late to get your expression of interest in because as soon as we have the number of people that the venue can handle we have to cut off, so anyone after that will go on a waiting list and may be disappointed.

And as per usual we are always looking for someone to lead a ride in their area, and as I've said before it doesn't have to be a big event and no one knows your area like you do. If you would like lead a ride but not sure how to go about it or what to do just have a chat to Reg Hammond, Ed Sleightholm or myself and we will be only too happy to help you in anyway we can.

So hope to see you at the AGM.
