High Country Muster 2008

hcm1-2008.jpgA perfect riding day greeted the ten riders, pillion and Back-up support at 8 am in Croydon for coffee and biscuits at Ray’s home, the traditional starting place for the run.  Stan Rooks dropped by to wish us a good ride as he was unfortunately unable to join us.
The ride has always been along the back roads to Coldstream and on to the highway to Healesville before the ride
hcm2-2008.jpgover the mountain to Alexandra on the Black Spur. We had the bad luck to follow a tray truck with a dirt bike on the back driving slowly. It is really difficult to overtake on this road but we managed and the rest of the trip to Yarck was splendid.  We made the usual stop for morning tea and John Killingsworth was there to wish us a pleasant journey, as he had to ride back for a weekend of gardening.

Sep 2008 Run to Kerrisdale

kerrisdale_1.jpgWe met at Reg's place in Yarrambat under a sunny blue sky, his plea to Crankos (the Greek god of good weather for kerrisdale_2.jpgmotorcyclists) was answered, and apart from some blustery winds we enjoyed good conditions all day.

Classics were well represented on the ride and included two guests from the Vincent HRD Owners Club Vic Inc. We were also pleased to have Edith Irving (Phil Irving's widow) accompanied by a companion travelling with us by car.

From Yarrambat we rode to Whittlesea, up the sweeping curves on the hill to Kinglake West and then north to Flowerdale with the King Parrot Creek on our left, all the foliage looking fresh, green and sparkling in the sunlight.  Also enjoying the conditions was an extensive cycle race, so there was the occasional 'pelaton' to avoid.

Midweek Run Sep 2008

We were again blessed with good weather for this our ninth midweek club ride for the year. Seven of us left on time from Narre Warren heading midweek sep 2008.jpgdown towards Berwick. A slight delay here when Ed had to pull in to a service station to investigate a loss of pressure in his rear tyre.  After an examination nothing foreign was located in the tread, tyre goo was pumped in, pressure restored and we were on our way. Our leader remained happy and therefore so did we.
From Berwick we rode up to the Caversham hill area and looped down to cross the Princes Hwy to Cardinia, over to Bayles and again crossed the Princes Hwy this time up to Longwarry North, Tarago and morning break at Neerim South.
